TEDxRVA is sold out event

In some of the most sought-after tickets in the downtown Richmond area, TEDxRVA sold out in a week and has a waiting list. Because demand has been high for the March 22 event, a simulcast and/or live streaming is now being looked at, according to the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

The newspaper reported:

TED started in the 1980s as a conference that united technology, entertainment and design. Today the nonprofit runs one conference on the West Coast and another in Edinburgh, Scotland. Speakers have 18 minutes or less "to give the talk of their lives."

Many of the talks are shared online at TED.com. The TEDx programs, like the one in Richmond, let communities and organizations plan independent conferences that mirror the original TED conferences.

TEDxRVA can also be found on Facebook. With its interesting list of thirty speakers and impressive group of sponsors, it is easy to see how tickets that cost $100 each and $50 for students sold out so quickly, making it a probability that this will not be the last TED event in RVA.
