Rainy and foggy and cold

Rain began in my corner of Augusta County around 8:00 Wednesday morning and now, seventeen hours later, it is still pouring down as the temperature slowly rises. It was 35 degrees Wednesday morning, then 37 degree by 6:00 Wednesday evening. Now, not long after midnight, it's 41 degrees.

The entire area is under a flood watch as 2-3 inches of rain are expected before subsiding Thursday evening. Christian's Creek was swollen at noon on Wednesday ... flooding is expected in areas of the Shenandoah Valley.

Meanwhile, driving home from a meeting around midnight, I hit a fog bank about a mile from my house. It was pea soup driving conditions the rest of the way home ... heavy fog alert in western Augusta County.

Luckily, I didn't see any deer while driving home although sometimes on rainy, foggy nights they like to wander onto the roadway. Not tonight, thank goodness. Be safe out there....
