House Republicans announce interactive forum on job creation

Engaging American Job Creators, Entrepreneurs & Innovators On Efforts To Address Job Creation

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, House Republican Leaders announced that they will hold a Forum on Job Creation next Wednesday, March 16, 2011 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. in the Capitol Visitors Center Auditorium. This event is part of the continued efforts by House Republicans to listen to American job creators, entrepreneurs and innovators about ways to grow the economy and create jobs in the private sector.

The interactive forum will provide a meaningful discussion between Members of Congress and job creators representing businesses small and large as well as various regions and industries including the energy, technology, health and financial sectors. Chief Deputy Whip Peter Roskam will moderate the discussion with participants both in person and from field locations around the country. It will also provide people with a unique opportunity to engage in the discussion through multiple digital platforms including a live Twitter wall and the forum will stream live online. The Leaders offered the following statement:

“House Republicans continue to act on voters’ calls to address job creation and grow the economy through the private sector. The more business owners we talk to across the country, the more obvious it becomes that our businesses are innovative and poised to grow, but government just has to stop making it harder for them to compete. As part of our larger effort, this forum provides an opportunity to continue these conversations with job creators and share valuable insights and experiences about the challenges they face. We will also discuss how to eliminate barriers that hinder job growth and the proactive steps we can take to make it easier for them to hire and expand.

“Last Congress, our Economic Recovery Working Group produced the Republican alternative economic plan to the failed stimulus. Our Republican Majority is serious about getting our fiscal house in order and we will continue to focus on creating an environment that fosters long-term economic growth so that American businesses have the confidence to create jobs and we can get more people back to work.”
